Farewell to the "Fab Pick"

The Unofficial Final Fab Pick: Fabulous card by Sweet Harvey
I am officially saying farewell to the "Fab Pick" section on my blog.  You can still see all of the previous items that I had featured there in the past, simply click on the Fab Pick label listed on the side and you'll be swept away to the land of Fabulous Goods.  I have done a terrible job of keeping up with the what I had hoped to be weekly picks and the reality is that if I spend time hunting for new tidbits to feature there I will spend even less time writing about other things.  That's not to say that I will not still post coveted bits and bobs because I certainly will but I'm no longer going to feel the pressure to do so each time I open up my blog and see the Fab Pick of two... three or even four months ago leering at me from the corner.

Farewell to the Fab Pick! You were Fab while you lasted.

Fab Pick of A Few Weeks Ago

My super awesome fantabulous girl Tanya gave me this funky bracelet for my birthday. Not only does it look cool, it's designed to be baby friendly. Roundhouse has created these fab Oh Plah! bracelets from "medical grade thermoplastic- non-toxic, bacteria resistant, and free of lead, latex, PVC, BPA and phthalates." In other words your babe can gnaw on this piece of jewelery and you don't have to wonder whether they really should be or not.

Fab Pick of Last Week... or was in the week before

Only boy bits allowed for Fab Picks this month in honour of Celebrate the Boy. Little Lark was featured on Made and Made by Rae and wow do they have fabulous goods for sale in their shop. I had a hard time choosing just one item but I'm a bit robot obsessed these days so the Build a Bot onesie seemed most appropriate. Check out Little Lark for sweet gifts for both kids and adults (many of the images are available on grown up items too).

Fab Pick

Tell me you didn't have to look twice to figure out that it's a laptop and not a ghetto blaster! A stellar decal by Beepart: love the old school style. This is definitely for the the older crowd; I was with our school board's audiologist at an assessment last Spring and he turned to me and said, "This will make you feel old: watch this." He pulled out a cassette tape deck (picture the old flat ones used in your elementary school) , set it in front of the 8 year old child we were working with and asked, "Do you know what this is?" She gave it a good look, pushed a couple buttons and looked up at us with a confused expression. Enough said. A student a few years ago had no clue what a record was but a cassette deck?! Oh boy.

Loads of cool designs can be found in this etsy shop and the fact that it's a Canadian company is a bonus.

Fab Pick of A Couple Weeks Ago

These super sweet felted slippers are handmade in an artisan cooperate in Mongolia. They are far too cute for their own good and their cute factor would be off the charts if they were being modeled by the Rockstar (if I don't say so myself). I have added these to my ever growing baby bits wish list. Check out Satch and Sol - a lovely little shop where you can find a pile of lovely goods from fair trade artisan cooperatives they partner with.

Fab Pick of Who Knows When

I fell for this apron months ago: love the cut and the fabric is one of my more recent favs. I wonder if this style would be as flattering on me as it is on the dummy. Check out loads of sweet aprons in various styles in Creative Chic's etsy shop.

I don't do it on purpose but I seem to kill all things that don't make noise. Thankfully my son and the cat are noisy little creatures. Yep, I can admit it: I have a serious brown thumb. These super cute self watering plant pots by QUALY let you know when your plants need to be watered (the squirrel hides when it's time to refill) which means I might actually have a chance of keeping a houseplant alive!! Add this little pot to my Christmas list please and thank you. A big thanks to Made by Petchy for mentioning QUALY on her blog - so many cute products!

Fab Pick of Last Week (or the week before??)

Dicky Bird was featured over at Bloesem (a beautiful blog that makes me swoon on a daily basis) and I immediately fell in love with the sweet designs of these greeting cards. Simple yet sweet!

InkTree Press has beautiful art "inspired by the wonder of childhood." We chose the Cosmic ABCs and Animal 123s designs for Kian's space and had the colours customized to match perfectly: they look fabulous on his walls! The designs are crisp and the colours are bright, they are perfect for a nursery or children's playroom. Pop over to InkTree Press to check out all of the sweet designs.

Fab Pick of...Too Long Ago

I've been hunting for a shelf for my sewing room and I think I've found the store to buy one from! Check out Old New Again's etsy shop for FABULOUS shelves and other funky old bits made... you guessed it: new again.

Fab Pick of Last Week

These futuristic looking AirPlant Pods by mudpuppy would look sweet hanging in just about any room. They're tiny pods so be sure to look at the dimensions before you order - I think they would be best hanging in groups OR sitting on shelves if you're displaying one on its lonesome.

Adorable beanies on super sweet tiny people! I Heart Baby has an awesome selection of baby head gear. Our little man will be wearing one of the über cool skull & crossbone beanies when he's fresh from his current hiding place: Daddy bought one sized for a newborn and another sized 0-6 months. I will definitely be making additional purchases from this shop, I love the black and grey argyle cap featured in the photo above. Check out I Heart Baby and let me know which beanie is your fav!

Fab Pick of Last Week

I usually feature Indie/Etsy finds here but I am so in love with Bath & Body Works Coconut Vanille Tapuru body butter that I had to share! I've been a Body Shop cocoa butter girl up until a week ago when I ran out and replaced my supply with this freaking amazing cream by Bath & Body Works. Not only does it smell good enough to eat, it leaves my skin feeling silky smooth and a teeny tiny bit shimmery too. I apply it all over my expanding belly and the rest of my body in the morning and I still feel soft and smooth in the evening when I crawl into bed. I can't say enough about this fabulous cream: try it out and let me know what you think!

Fab Pick of Forever Ago

We spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for the perfect decal for our nursery and finally decided on Bubba & Doodle's cube tree. Jennifer, the owner of Bubba & Doodle, was super patient and quickly replied to my 8 billion questions about colours and application. On the weekend we took a couple hours to put the decal up in the nursery and WOW! We truly couldn't be any happier with the way it looks: our baby is going to spend many hours gazing at that tree and so are we. I highly recommend Bubba and Doodle to anyone looking for quality decals.

Fab Pick of Last Week... or the week before

You know how much I love swings, especially the sky swings found at fairs? This necklace by Camera Shy Photography pretty much captures my love for the swings perfectly, the fact that it sort of looks like a mushroom at first glance makes it that much better: I like mushrooms almost as much as I like swings. There are loads of other fab designs found on necklaces, earrings and rings over at Camera Shy's etsy shop so be sure to check them out.

Fab Pick of Last Week

No matter how cute my wineglass charm is I never seem to remember which one belongs to me. These personalized ID drink tags found at Hattie Rex would definitely solve my problem, a tag with JAIME stamped on it would be impossible to miss... unless I forget my name in which case drinking from the wrong wine glass would be the least of my worries.
